Hello! I am Lea Wells. I am a surf artist, children’s lit and editorial illustrator. I grew up on a barrier island, so no matter how far inland I go, the ocean flows into my art. I draw inspiration from the ocean, surfing and the natural world. I do a lot of mixed media, but I prefer to use pencil and watercolor on handmade cotton printmaking papers. The adventures I have outdoors, in ocean or forest, fill me with such big feelings that creating art is the only way I know to express and celebrate that wonder of existence. And ultimately, I hope my art inspires a desire for conservation of our planet.
